Bad News [Game]

Bad News is a free, browser-based game developed as a media literacy tool from the Dutch studio Tilt, the Cambridge Social Decision-Making Lab and DROG, a Netherlands-based platform against disinformation.

Summary:

Bad News is a game that confers resistance against bad online information by putting players in the position of the people who create it.

The goal of the game is to expose the tactics and manipulation techniques that are used to mislead people and build up a following. Bad News works as a psychological “vaccine” against disinformation: playing it builds cognitive resistance against common forms of manipulation that you may encounter online.

Bad News was written with an audience in mind of ages 14 and up.

The game creators have also developed an information sheet about how the game was developed and the research behind it as well as an introduction to what disinformation is, why it’s a problem and ways to counter it.

Language: This game is playable in English, German, Czech, Moldovan, Dutch, Bosnian, Danish, Polish, Serbian, Norwegian, Arabic, Greek, Esperanto, Russian, Romanian, Slovenian, Estonian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Ukrainian, Portuguese, Armenian, Burmese and Hebrew.
